Hundreds of people today took to streets in protest against the alleged molestation attempt by a jawan of Rashtriya Rifles in Anantnag district of South Kashmir, here today.
Reports reaching here revealed that the RR Jawans allegedly attempted to molest a woman, who was on her way to her fields, in Wadoora village of Kulgam tehsil.
The villagers alleged that the woman was rescued by some villagers who reached the spot after hearing hue and cry of the victim. “The brother-in-law of the victim objected the act of the soldiers but was given severe thrashing”, a villager told News Agency of Kashmir.
The news of the alleged molestation attempt spread like a wild fire in the area and number of people came on the road staging protest demonstration. Raising anti-army slogans the protestors were demanding immediate action against the erring soldiers.
The situation was tense in the area, till the filing of this report.
