| `Fake militants’ gang busted, 5 arrested | | | Srinagar Mar 29
In yet another breakthrough Police busted a gang of `fake militants’, who were threatening and extorting money from people in Budgam district, here today.
An official spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that complaints were received by police station Budgam that some miscreants were extorting money from people in Magam and adjacent areas of the district by posing themselves as militants.
Police swung into action and started investigation, the spokesman said adding, five persons were today arrested in this connection from two different places in district Budgam.
He said that two persons identified as Javeed Ahmed Dar son of Habibullah Dar and Bilal Ahmed Ganie son of Habibullah Ganie, both residents of Peth Kanihama Magam were apprehended from their village.
Three others namely Shabir Ahmed Dar son of Mohammed Akbar, Jehangir Ahmed Dar son of Sonaullah and Bilal Ahmed Sheikh son of Khalil Sheikh, all residents Rathsuna Beerwah were arrested from Rathsuna.
He said that some black caps, toy Pistols and black cloth were recovered from their possession
Police said that it has registered a case of extortion and cheating against the accused persons, who were lodged in Budgam police station. |
