Katra-Reasi suffers Govt's discrimination: Dr Jitendra
1/30/2014 11:33:14 PM
Early Times Report

Katra, Jan 30: Accusing the National Conference (NC)-Congress government of neglecting the areas not represented by ruling party MLAs, BJP National Executive Member and J&K Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Katra-Reasi area is also suffering from discrimination on this account.
Addressing a meeting of party workers, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Katra is not only an international destination of religious tourism but has, of late, also emerged as an important trade and business center, and therefore, it is the responsibility of the State government to address Katra's local grievances and apprehensions, particularly in the wake of certain recent controversial decisions by the administration.
BJP is the only party whose cadre is committed to reach out to people in each home and work for redressing their problems, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the BJP has decided to go to the people with Narendra Modi's slogan of "Vote for India" and at the same time, highlight the neglect of the region suffered on account of coalition government's Kashmir-centric priorities. He said, it is an irony that despite the existence of Salal Hydro-electric project, the twin towns of Katra and Reasi continue to suffer from regular, frequent power-cuts. He also referred to poor maintenance of Katra-Dumel and Katra- Reasi roads.
Referring to people's craving for change, Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP is the only option before the voter to get rid of mis-governance, corruption and dynasty rule perpetuated by the Congress party. In the State of Jammu & Kashmir, he said, Congress was playing a second fiddle to separatist-friendly parties simply to stay in power and continue being part of an unholy coalition.
The meeting was held as a part of BJP's election preparatory exercise to discuss the management of polling booths and composition of Booth committees. Among those present at the meeting were Col (Retd) Uttam Singh, party Prabhari for district Reasi, MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, State Secretary Kabla Singh, District President Ajay Nanda, Katra Mandal President Ajay Baru, Sheel Maangotra, Shashi Gupta, Ramesh Sharma and several others.
Col (Retd) Uttam Singh receved a detailed report about composition of Booth committees. He informed the party workers that very soon, the party is going to start a series of "Booth Smmelans" to impart awareness about booth management. He said a list of Booth and Shakti Kendra incharges for the entire district of Reasi is being updated.
Baldev Raj, MLA, while welcoming Dr Jitendra Singh to Reasi constituency, reiterated his commitment to BJP and to the people of Katra-Reasi. He would leave no stone unturned to serve the area, he said. People of Reasi are firmly behind BJP, he added. He said he had liberally spent from his CDF for the development of the area.
