NACO employees' indefinite strike begins, hold protest

Jammu, Jan 30: Seeking implementation of their demands, All Jammu and Kashmir employees associated with Department of National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) today began indefinite strike.
Moreover the employees staged sit in outside the office National AIDS Control Society at Trikuta Nagar Jammu.
Over 100 agitating employees hailing from different parts of the state assembled at Trikuta Nagar office and raised slogans in support of their demands with regard to regularization of their services, enhancement of pay at par with central government employees, Medical EPF, Insurance facility, leaves at par with government employees, 2 & ½ day salary, revoke of 4th phase salary order dated 9-01-2014, re-fixation of salary by keeping a difference between a senior and junior employees, 4th phase salary benefits with effect from April, 2012, yearly increments.
The agitating employees also slammed the NACO authorities for enhancement of pay in un-rationalize manner wherein the pay of some employees were enhanced by 50 to 60% while in some cases it is merely 8 to 10% in other cases. They also take exception of enhancement of pay of driver grade employees which is more than the field employees including counselors/technicians/data managers/ who are much qualified than the said post.
State president J&K State AIDS Control Employees Association Shahnawaz Ahmed said that the association has already preyed upon the higher authorities for immediate revocation of 4th phase salary order which is not in the interest of hard working employees of the department. He said that the association has given sufficient time to the concern authorities for accepting and implementation of the demands.
He also said that the employees are yet to get the benefits of pay enhancement order issued in the year 2009. He said that the ongoing strike will remain continue till both the state as well as central government will accept the demands of the employees. He said that the employees did not want to choose the confrontation path with the government and added that they were forced by the government to choose agitating path.
He said that the association has also meet the honorable Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad many time during his visit to Jammu, but added that nothing was done so far. He urged upon Ghulam Nabi Azad to look into the demands of the employees on top priority so that the employees will call off their agitation.
