| BCFI demands 27 pc reservations, issue of caste certificates | | | Jammu, Mar 29 A convention of the Backward Classes Federation of India was held today which demanded implementation of 27 percent reservations in Jammu and Kashmir as per government law, change of the nomenclature from Other Social Castes to Other Backward classes, issuance of backward class certificate from on the basis of caste and similar such provisions which have been provided by the union government. Addressing the convention held at Kshyap Rajput Sabha, BCFI leaders have taken a serious note of non-implementation of Mandal report in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Backward classes leaders alleged that instead of giving reservations to deserving people, the same benefit has been given to non-deserving people. The BCFI leaders also warned those members of the community, who were misleading the people and giving them false hopes. The convention resolved that only those leaders will be supported, who work for the cause of the community. The BCFI convention has also taken a serious note of the crores of rupees which has been sent by the centre to Jammu and Kashmir for the welfare of SC/ST and OBC people of the state. The convention asked the Congress government in the Centre to implement the Mandal Commission report in Jammu and Kashmir in the same manner as it is being proposed to be implemented by UPA government in the centre. Instead of helping the backwards, the participants in the convention alleged that the state government has stopped issuing caste certificates to the backward community which is an act of injustice. Prominent among those who participated in the convention included Tilak Raj, Dharam Paul, Bharat Bhushan, Ram Lal, Jagdev, Major Ram, Kasturi Lal Basotra, Nek Ram, Advocate Pawan Manni, Advocate Ashok Basotra, K C Raina, Bharat Bhushan, Rakesh Kumar, Madan Chalotra, Reham-din-Malik, Abdul Ghani, Khadim Hussain, Sharan Singh, Hussain Baksh, Mansa Ram.
