Charak lays foundation over head foot bridge near GWC

Srinagar, August 3 – Minister of State for Roads and Buildings, Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak laid foundation stone of over head 70 feet foot-bridge near Government Degree College for Women Moulana Azad Road Srinagar here today to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 35 lakh.
The Minister said that the work on the over head bridge would be completed by October this year. He said that after completion of the bridge the problem of traffic conjunction near college would be eased.
Mr. Charak said that the massive reconstruction programme launched by the government as enshrined in the common minimum programme will bring about socio-economic transformation in the state. He said the ambitious programmes launched by the coalition government can be accomplished only with the active cooperation of the people.
He asked the people to come forward and avail the benefit of the welfare schemes while will improve living standard of the people and also provide them employment opportunities.
Mr. Charak said that to beautify the Srinagar city various development works have been taken in hand and added that upgradation and renovation of different roads in Srinagar city is being taken up very shortly. He said the macadamization work of important roads of Srinagar city at Budshah Chowk, Ranawari, Sadikadal, Ashaihi Bagh, Hazratbal, Habak and Zakura is apace.
Mr. Charak said that construction of four bridges involving Rs.8 crore is near completions which include Sadakadal, Ashibagh and Nowpora. The work on Dalgate bridge has been suspended for some time due to some technical reasons.
He said to beautify the Lal Chowk area the parking place near Ganta Ghar is being shifted to Sheikh Bagh.
The Minister impressed upon the engineers to speed up the construction work of the over head bridge and complete it within the stipulated time so that the students are benefited in crossing the road without any difficulty.
Chief Engineer, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Shah and MLA Mr. Mohammad Shafi Bhat were present at the occasion.
