| PDP’S demand for replacement of State Governor ridiculous, says Hari Om | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | MAR 29 The BJP vice-president and spokesperson Prof. Hari Om expressed has expressed grave concern over the positive response of the AICC-I chairperson to the PDP patron’s demand that State Governor Lt Gen, (retd) S.K Sinha be replaced with a political person so that the new incumbent is able to carry forward the ongoing “peace process’’ between India and Pakistan. The BJP spokesperson said the ‘demand of the PDP is ill-designed and ill-motivated’ and added that this mischievous demand, if accepted, would send another wrong signal that it is the PDP, and not the Congress-led ruling coalition, which is reigning supreme. Prof. Om in a statement has said the PDP is all out to disturb the State’s polity and vitiate the political scene for promoting its divisive and sectarian agenda by advocating such pernicious ideas as demilitarization, repeal of the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and replacement of the state Governor, with someone, who endorses the unsetting and perverted views of the PDP. He said what the BJP could not understand why did the AICC-I president held out a very positive assurance to the PDP in this regard. The BJP spokesperson urged the powers that be in New Delhi, to turn down the PDP suggestion seeking replacement of Lt.Gen, Sinha with a “political person” at a time when he is discharging his constitutional obligations to the best of his knowledge and ability. He said state Governor needs to be supported by all the friends of India, as he has greatly contributed to the national cause by explaining away the meaning of demilitarization, return of the state to the pre-1953 constitutional status and the nature and grave implications of the ongoing separatist movement in the State. Making it loud and clear that the BJP is in full agreement with the Governor when he dismisses the term demilitarization as “obnoxious”, Prof Om described the demand for pre-1953 constitution position as ‘not feasible’ and asserted that the ongoing separatist movement in the valley is the result of “religious fundamentalism’, posing a grave threat to the national security. He has expressed the hopes that the Union Government would reject outright all such suggestions and instead take steps, which could hasten the process of the state’s integration with India.
