Jammu, Feb 2: Following a 'mysterious' fire that broke out in cash section of Consumer and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) at Paloura in which Rs 61, 81 750 has been gutted triggered suspension of two cashiers of the department, a three members committee has been formed by the Director to conduct inquiry in to the incident. "After collecting money from ration dealers, cashier failed to deposit Rs 61, 81 750 in treasury and they kept the amount in the cash section without informing their seniors", said director CAPD DC Chib adding that a three member's inquiry committee headed by Assistant Director (Adm) has been constituted to conduct the inquiry in this matter. He further said that currency around Rs 57 lakh have been retrieved by the officials of the department. Sources said that the fire broke out at around 4:00 am and was noticed by gatekeeper of the office who later on informed the police. After that fire tenders pressed into service and after some time the fire could be doused. Police said that a case in this connection has been registered and further investigation is on. |
