| Labour department organizes 12 day study tour for workers | | Mangat flags off group of industrial workers | | Jammu March 30 With a view to enhance and promote the efficiency of the workers and acquaint them about the latest technology and technical developments taking place in the industrial sector of the neighbouring states, a group of 28 industrial workers of Jammu region today left for 12 day study tour of various industrial establishments in the country. The Minister for Health, Labour and Employment Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, flagged off a chartered bus with a group of 28 industrial workers for study tour here today. The group would be visiting Amritsar, Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Agra and Chandigarh. Before flagging off the group, the Minister, addressing on the occasion, impressed upon them to study the work culture in the industrial sector outside the State and on return apprise the department about their experiences and observations so that the labour sector in the state is guided further in respect of their rights and duties vis-à-vis modern technologies. Principal Secretary, Labour and Employment, B L Nimesh and Labour Commissioner, Prit Pal Singh Betab, were also present on the occasion. Prit Paul said that the deputation of industrial workers is accompanied by the officers of the Labour Department and the selection of workers has been made in consultation with the principal trade unions. The workers, who have availed this opportunity once, are not considered for the second time, he added. The Labour Commissioner further said that the department has earmarked Rs. two lakhs in the state sector scheme for the purpose. He hoped that this type of study tour would give exposure to the local industrial workers, which in turn would help the industrial sector in the state in achieving its desired goal, he added.
