JAMMU, March 30 Justice Mr Nisar Ahmed Kakru, First Puisne Judge, has been appointed as Acting Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, consequent upon the retirement of Chief Justice Bashir Ahmed Khan. According to the notification issued by Union Ministry of Law and Justice, in exercise of powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint Justice Nisar Ahmed Kakru, First Puisne Judge of the State High Court to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of J&K High Court with effect from April 1, 2007, consequent upon the retirement of Chief Justice Bashir Ahmed Khan of J&K High Court, who is retiring on April 1, 2007, on completion of 62 years of age.
Justice Nisar Ahmed Kakru born on October 26 1949 was enrolled as a Pleader in August 1975 and as an Advocate on April 1, 1982. Practiced in District & Sessions Courts and other Courts in Baramulla from August 1975 to 1983.From 1984, he practiced in District Courts and Jammu and Kashmir High Court in Civil, Criminal, Constitutional, Service, Labour, Company matters etc. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court for a period of two years on November 26, 1997 and as a permanent Judge on December 20, 1999.
