Inter-Departmental Cricket Tourney at JU, 2007-08
Department of Law and Political Deptt enters Semis

Department of Law and Political Science after registered the superb victory in the quarterfinals in the Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament being played at University cricket field here today.
In the first quarterfinal, Department of Law thrashed the Punjabi Deptt by nine wickets. Punjabi Deptt won the toss and elected to bat first. They bundled out at 60runs in 15.3overs. There were 23runs went as extras. There was no player in the Punjabi Deptt who reached the double figure. Jaswinder, Gurmeet and Vinaypal contributed 7runs each for their team. For Law Deptt Farhat Hussain, Ajitpal Singh and Shailender Slathia clinched three wickets each. All of them bowled with tight line and length and gave no room to the players to play their shots.
While chasing the target, Department of Law registered the thumping victory in 6.3overs by losing only one wicket. Surinder made 17runs in 18balls by hitting two boundaries whereas Shalinder contributed 18runs in 15balls.
The second quarter final was played between Chemistry Deptt and Political Science which was won by Political Science Deptt by nine wickets. Chemistry Deptt piled up 138runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 18overs, after winning the toss and elected to bat first. Kuldeep made 54runs in 28balls and hits 7fours and a six. Imran struck 22runs in 19balls and struck two fours. Sushil contributed 17runs in 16balls by hitting one four. For Political Deptt, HArpreet and Jagdeep clinched two wickets each.
Political Science played well and chased the target in the 14.5overs by losing just one wicket. The top order of Political Science hampered the Chemistry Deptt bowlers and hit the ball to every corner of field. Govind was the top scorer and struck splendid half century. He got out at 54runs in 49balls with nine balls to cross the fence. Manzar made 36runs in 28balls and hits six boundaries. Sunny entertained the spectators by hitting 24runs in 13balls and struck four splendid boundaries. Arun Pawar was the only wicket taker for Chemistry Deptt. 29 extras also help them to reach the target.
With these victories both Department of Law and Political Science reached the semis of Inter Department Cricket Tourney.
Vikrant and Naveen were the officials in the matches and Satpal acted as the scorer.
