Inter Battalion Sports meet concluded here in grand function held at Gulshan Ground here today with the prize distribution ceremony.
The annual sports meet ended with the 100mtrs (Men) final which was won by Ct. Tahir Ahmed of the 13th Battalion. The second and third prize shared by Ct. Jasbir Singh of 7th Battalion and Ragubir Singh of 8th battalion.
In the prize distribution ceremony, Gopal Sharma (IPS), Director General of Police was the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners. The overall champion’s trophy in the women section was won by the IRP-2nd Battalion whereas JKAP- 8th Battalion clinched the trophy for men section. The best athlete award in the meet was won by Inspector Mohd. Siddique of JKAP- 8th Bn. in men section. Simmi Sharma of 2nd Bn. declared as the best women athlete.
The overall results in women section under different game events are:-
In Basket Ball: IRP- 2nd Bn was the winner whereas JKAP-12th Bn remained as the runner-up. In Volleyball, the trophy was won by JKAP- 12th Bn and IRP- 12th Bn clinched the runner-up trophy. In Kabbadi, JKAP- 12th remained topper and second spot shared by IRP- 12th Bn. In Handball, Kho-Kho and Tug-of-War, IRP- 2nd won the trophy and JPAP-12th Bn was the runner-up.
Results of Men Section under different categories are:-
In Basket Ball, the trophy was won by JKAP-8th Bn and runner-up trophy took by JKAP-12th Bn. In Volleyball, JKAP-8th Bn won the trophy and JKAP-5th Bn shared the runner-up trophy. In Kabaddi, JKAP-8th Bn was the winner whereas IRP-6ht Bn declared runner-up. In Handball, JKAP-6th Bn was the winner trophy and JKAP-14th Bn won the runner-up trophy. In Hockey, the trophy was won by JKAP-12th Bn and JKAP-7th Bn stood second. In Football, JKAP-8th Bn declared winner whereas second spot shared by JKAP-5ht Bn. The Tug-of War was won by IRP-7th Bn where runner-up was IRP-4th Bn.
In Gos’ Event the results are:-
In Badminton, Ranjeet Singh (DySP) of IRP-7th Bn won the trophy whereas runner-up was Amarjeet Singh (DySP) of 8th Bn. Sanjay Bhagat (DySP) was the Table-Tennis trophy and Israr Khan (IPS), CO JKAP-5th Bn clinched the second spot.
While speaking on the occasion, DGP appreciated the enthusiasm of players towards sports and congratulated the officers for organizing such type of event to reduce the stress and tension. Prominent police officer of the state was also present in the prize distribution ceremony.
