BJP up in arms against Politicizing Army:
3/31/2007 11:30:18 PM

JAMMU | MAR 31
The Congress-led UPA Government at the centre can do anything to save its government in Jammu and Kashmir. According party spokesman a government formed and run by the rag-tag and ever feuding coalition partners can even politicize the non-political institutions like the Army and paramilitary forces in order to accommodate the divisive and communal views of those who threat to pull from the government. It has actually been done by the Union Government by politicizing the institution of the Army by setting up three committees to lock into pernicious demands of the PDP ranging from demilitarization of the State to repeal of the Armed Forces Special powers Act (AFSPA) to vacation by the Army of the militant-infested civilian areas and that too at a time when the terrorist brutally murdered six members of the minority community in Rajouri district yesterday after segregating them from the members of the majority community. The BJP condemns this line of the UPA Government.
The terms of reference of the committees show the extent to which the union Government can go to weaken the Indian case in J&K in its desperate bid to appease the separatists of sorts and keep its government intact. The spokesman further said there is not a single instance anywhere in the world which indicates that any sovereign an independent country has ever politicized the institution of Army and endangered the national security and the security of its citizens for petty political considerations. But this has happened in this country an there is no doubt that the nation will have to pay a very heavy price for this act of political debauchery and expediency, as opposed to the vital national interests. There is also no doubt that the Indian State today is in the hands of those concepts are essentially perverted and aims extremely narrow.
Just compare the Indian State with United States, United Kingdom and even Pakistan and you will find the difference. A couple of terrorist related incidents in the US and the UK have changed their whole policy towards the menace of terrorism. These countries have thereafter enacted several stringent anti-terror laws and the main feature of their new policy is: Zero level tolerance for terrorists. Pakistan has even used aerial bombardment in Waziristan and Baluchistan to crush the “rebels”. But look at the attitude of the congress-led UPA Government to the menace of terrorism. Its first step was to abrogate POTA to please the separatists. It has now constituted committees, which will not only recommend relocation and reconfiguration of troops but also recommend restrictions on the use of the AFSPA at the behest of a political party, whose pro-separatist credentials are too well known.
The BJP is the firm view that whatever the Union Government has been doing in J&K has all the ingredients of subverting the Indian polity in the State and emboldening the separatists and fundamentalists to heighten their subversive and anti-India activities.
The BJP sincerely believes that the nation will disapprove of all the undesirable actions of the Union Government in J&K as the national mood is against any kind of appeasement. On its party, the BJP would leave no stone unturned to educate the people about the dangerous ramifications of the government decision to set up three committees and o whatever it can at the State level and at the national level to prevent the Union Government from tinkering with Indian sovereignty.
BJP national interests are sacred than the politics of opportunism and disruption. It strongly urges the people to get themselves ready for teaching the Congress and similar other outfits which are playing with national security and national interests.
