He was interacting with people at Soulki near Kalakote in Rajouri district today where five innocent persons were killed by militants previous night. Chief Minister reached Kalakote early in the morning to personally meet the bereaved families and their kith and kin. Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma, legislators Ashok Sharma and Rachpal Singh, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pramod Jain and Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Dr. S. P. Vaid. Azad said that he from very beginning has made it clear that we should not come under the hide and seek trap of militants and raise such issues which directly help militants. He said his refusal for any demilitarization and reduction in security forces was based on ground realities and was appreciated by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and other senior leaders as well. He said no political party should un-necessarily make security issues their political tool as it involves lives of innocent people. He said, he will never like to play politics with dead bodies and blood of innocent people. He advised all responsible parties to exclusively devote their energy for welfare of people and leave sensitive issues of security to concerned officers who know the requirement of deployments and relocations better and are doing it in the normal processes since decades. Chief Minister said that Rajouri massacre and grenade incident of Kishtwar of yesterday are the real lessons for those who claim that they have eliminated militancy in the state. He said people are required to be fed with facts and realities rather than led astray them in the complex cobweb of falsehood. Azad said that since day one his directions to the security forces have been to be tough with militants and soft towards innocent people. This demarcation line is required to be strictly maintained. He said violators of human rights should learn lesson from the fate of Parihar and others who were not only put in jails but challaned in the court of law also. At the same time, no political party or any individual should venture to defame good and remarkable works done by security forces while protecting lives and properties of people. He said in absence of them what would have been fate of people in general, is known to all. He said, therefore, any premature attempt of sending them back to barracks is yet not feasible or realistic. Chief Minister said that all possible measures would be taken to protect the life and property of people, adding that security would be further strengthened wherever required. He said that village defence committees will be strengthened in Rajouri and Poonch districts and SPOs provided. Azad expressed sympathies with the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls of victims. He said that ex-gratia relief of rupees one lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased immediately while jobs would be provided to them expeditiously.
