| 'Govt is competent to grant status of a Minister to individuals" | | |
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 04 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today told Legislative Council that government is competent authority to grant the status of cabinet MoS rank to any individual.
Replying to supplementaries of a question by Mr. S Praduman Singh, Chief Minister said conventions and parliamentary precedents also supplement the Rules in running the functioning of the government, saying that in our country about 60 percent parliamentary business is carried on conventions and precedents. He said it was perogative of the government to give Cabinet or Minister of State status to Chairman of different corporation. He said Chief Minister can appoint any person other than legislators as Chairman, for which no Cabinet order is required.
