early times report Jammu, Feb 14: "Saptak" - An Association of Music Artists, has condoled the sad demise of Ustad Ghulam Mohammad Saaznawaz, an internationally acclaimed Music Artist, who breathed his last, Yesterday at Srinagar, Kashmir. Rich tributes, were paid to the departed soul in a condolence meeting organized by "Saptak" at Saraswati Sangeet Kalamandir, Jammu. Paying homage to Sh. Saaznawaz, Vijay Atri, General Secretary of the Association, described him as a doyen of Sufiana Music, who contributed a lot to the Kashmiri Music. An extensively travelled artist, had performed almost in all parts of the country and abroad as well. He further said that besides a top class artists, he was a very simple, humble & loving human being also, to whom the younger generation and the senior artists admire and respect from the bottom of the their heart. The void created by his demise, is impossible to be filled in. A Sangeet Natak Akademi & State Awardee besides decorated with numerable awards and felicitations, Sh. Saaznawaz, will always be remembered for his contribution in the field of music and hoped that his legacy will be carried on by his disciples. All the members, expressed their deep sense of sorrow and grief and prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
