| CCA shocked over assembly statement, threatens to go on valley wide strike | | "Dir Education blocks 140 files, secretly registers two" | | early times report Srinagar, Feb 14: The Coaching Centres Association (CCA) of Kashmir has expressed its utter shock over the recent government statement about the registration of two coaching centres in the state. The government in a statement in assembly revealed that only two coaching have been registered in the entire state and all others are illegal. Terming it a ploy to benefit some people at the highest level, the association has threatened to go on a one day valley wide strike against the education department. "This is so bizarre," said G N Var, chairman CCA, "on one hand they have been blocking the registration of 140 genuine coaching centres and on ther hand they have secretly registered two coaching centres." "They have been befooling us and the entire population for the last two years, by saying that they are registering the coaching centres," said Var. "And now look they have registered two coaching centres that are not even our members," he regretted. The association termed it as the mockery of entire registration process. The association suspected it to be the ploy to destroy the genuine tuition industry and hand it over to some blue eyed persons. "We want the education department to reveal the identity of these two coaching centres as it is a big game to monopolize the entire private tuition industry by few chosen persons," said Var. "We have dozens of coaching centres who have complete infrastructure and they have been running for over 20 years, still they are being denied the registration without any answer." Of the 150 coaching centres operating in Srinagar city, 140 have submitted their files for seeking registration from director education. "Our centres have invested heavily to fulfill the criteria set by the government but our registration still being blocked," said Var. The association threatened to launch a massive agitation against the education department. "We will go on a daylong valley wide strike incase department of education doesn't come out clean on the issue," said Var. "We will shut down entire 550 coaching centres where more than 50,000 students are studying." |
