| Valley delegations visit Civil Secretariat daily | | Allege injustice in creation of admn units | | Et Report SRINAGAR, Feb 14: Delegations from valley continue to visit the civil secretariat at Jammu to register their protest against creation of new administrative units. Yesterday ten delegations from Tral villages in Pulwama and some areas from Kulgam district of South Kashmir, Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir and Shangus block of Kothar Constituency in Anantnag district of South Kashmir met their representatives, cabinet ministers and secretaries and expressed their resentment. The representatives said that their areas were ignored totally and a grave injustice was done to them while granting tehsil status to some other areas. Some of the delegations also handed over the memorandum to ministers and sought their intervention in the matter. Sources said that besides holding protest demonstrations, the people in Kashmir in large numbers have moved towards Jammu to press the Government for fulfillment of their demands. The delegations according to sources have strongly pleaded before the Ministers that there was no logic in granting tehsil status to various areas by ignoring their blocks and Niabats. However the ministers and the secretaries in Civil Secretariat promised them review and justice. Sources said in granting tehsils and Sub Division status in newly created administrative units, there was total bandarbaant and the maximum benefits were given to the constituencies represented by coalition partners. The Machail Panchayat in Kishtwar district having a population of 5000 has been given tehsil status while five tehsils and three sub divisions were created in two assembly segments in Jammu districts represented by two ministers of coalition while ignoring the rest areas. This has led to a lot of public resentment and people in various areas of Valley came to streets in protest alleging that their areas were ignored and Government was totally biased in creation of new administrative units. It may be recalled that opposition PDP, NPP and others have accused the Government of bandarbant In creation of administrative units and Congress and NC representatives took lion's share while ignoring the Constituencies represented by Opposition. However with the recent announcement of Chief Minister that the decision will be looked into to give justice to the left out areas the protesting people have got a solace as the announcement has generated a new hope among them. |
