| PDP praises Sonia,Manmohan for cementing relations with Congress | | | Srinagar,Mar 31 In a bid to further cement its relations with the Congress High Command the Political Affairs Committee meeting in Srinagar on Saturday lavished praises on AICC chief,Ms Sonia Gandhi,and Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh. A resolution adopted at the meeting said that the PDP noted with satisfaction that the “attitude and the decision of the central leadership on the issues raised by the party reflects clear commitment and deep sincerity on their part to address the people-oriented issues in the state and pave the way for a more meaningful and constructive process of dialogue and reconciliation.” The resolution described the response of the UPA leadership to the demands of the PDP,regarding reduction of troops,repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act and vacation of land,orchards and houses occupied by troops and its point of view as a “gracious and dignified.” It said that the constructive response to its demans was a”matter of great satisfaction for all the political parties and people of all persuasions in the state.It said that any measure that alleviates the sufferings of people and “gives them a sense of belonging and security is a welcome contribution to the ongoing task of peace and reconciliation in the state.” In fact the PAC meeting was convened at such a time as it facilitated four cabinet ministers,belonging to PDP,to be in Jammu on time for attending the cabinet meeting today which also indicated that the Mufti was now for total reapprochment with the Congress. Continuing its praises the resolution said “the PDP resolves to place on record its appreciation for the central leadership,particularly the UPA chairperson,Ms Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh for taking a very sensitive,impassionate,understanding and enlightened view of the prevailing situation in the state.”It thanked the Government of India for establishing a mechanism that would further improve the ground realities,inspire peoples’ confidence in the political process and institutions and pave the way for a just and dignified resolution of the Kashmir issue.
