| Failure to honour commitment is contempt, says Harsh Dev | | |
Jammu, Apr 2 Failure to honour the commitment made on the floor of the House amounts to contempt and the ministers and bureaucrats, who have failed to honour the same should be arrested. Former education Minister and Panther party, MLA Harshdev Singh, while addressing a press conference in Jammu today, stated this today. Maintaining that assurances given by some of the ministers on the floor of the House had not been honored, the Panthers leader asked the government to take action against the guilt. “Not honouring assurances is like insulting the august House and this should not happen”, he said. Asserting that aspirations of Jammu are being crucified on the altar Kashmiri appeasement, Panthers MLA Harshdev Singh, today demanded justice for the people of this region, who have been discriminated against since 1947. In the chorus of demilitarization and self-rule demands, the real issues concerning the people of Jammu have drowned, he said, demanding to know what would be the benefit of self-rule or demilitarization to this region. The government of India as well as the state government has been following a policy of appeasement of Kashmiri leaders and populace, but they show no interest towards the needs of the people of Jammu. Political equality between Kashmir and Jammu, said the Panthers leader is the most important demand of the people as they feel that the Kashmiri leadership has plundered their aspirations. Therefore, issues like equality in jobs, proper fund allocation and creating an equal number of assembly seats must be addressed by those at the helm of affairs at the earliest. Since, the grievances of the people of Jammu have not been attended to, the people are becoming restive and unhappy with the performance of the government.
