Speaker addresses public meeting at Kharah

Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Tara Chand has reiterated Government’s resolve to provide all basic amenities to the people of State especially of rural areas. He said that during the last four years, all the three regions of the State have witnessed massive development in all sectors and progress of development is visible on ground.
Speaker was addressing a mammoth public meeting at village Kharah in Khour block last evening.
Mr. Tara Chand said that Government has given priority to burning issues like strengthening of road net work, education, health and drinking water. Under these sectors, the Government has incurred crores of rupees in all areas and one can easily analyze the progress on ground. He said that in Khour block all-important villages have been linked with the motorable roads. Hundreds of new schools have been opened and a large number of schools have been upgraded. He apprised that Government has sanctioned a Sub-District Hospital at Khour and fulfilled the aspirations of thousands of people of this constituency. To improve the power scenario in the area, the Government has approved a new grid station for Jourian-Kaleeth. On completion, the power situation in dozens of surrounding villages would improve, he added.
To give further boost to the developmental activities in Khour block, mega project namely IWDP would be launched. This ambitious projects covers multifarious activities as per the local needs. All important departments are involved in the project and schemes would be implemented with the help of Village Development Committees {VDCs) after proper identification of works on merit. This would also generate employment opportunities for the local unemployed youth.
Speaker informed the gathering that protection work on chenab river at Pargwal area is in full swing. He said, this time the government has taken measures in advance and before the onset of rainy season, so that works would be completed timely.
He appreciated the performance of officers posted in the block and asked them to keep close liaison with the people and complete the ongoing works expeditiously.
MLA Akhnoor Mr. Sham Lal Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the government. He said that Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has taken some historical and courageous decisions like passing of Roshni Act, creation of new districts, tehsils and Finance Commission for equitable distribution of resources to all parts of the state. The State has witnessed new era of development during the last four years, he maintained.
Mr. Suram Singh, Mr. Hans Raj, Mr. Milkhi Ram, Mr. Mohan Lal Khajuria, Mr. Angrezu Ram and other local leaders also addressed the gathering.
