| Hakim Yaseen reviews transport facilities in view of ensuing tourist season, stresses for making bus service available till late hours | | | Jammu, April 02 Minister for Transport Hakim Mohammad Yaseen has called on the Regional Transport and SRTC authorities to provide timely and comfortable transport facilities to the people especially school going children in Srinagar city and other major towns of the valley. Reviewing the transport facilities being provided to the people of Srinagar city at a meeting of senior officers of the Regional Transport office, MVD and SRTC here today, the Minister directed the concerned authorities for regulating the transport system smoothly in the capital city of Srinagar in view of the rush of tourists and school going children. He directed the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) staff to ensure that ladies are being provided seats reserved in the passenger services adding that the males occupying the reserved seat for ladies would be fined besides the conductor of the concerned bus. Hakim Yaseen said that government is committed to provide timely and comfortable transport facilities to the people in the state saying that for the purpose measures of urgent nature are in the pipeline at different levels. He said government is considering to set up more mini bus stands and bus basis in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar to minimize the traffic jams and pollution. The Minister who is on 2-day tour of the valley interacted with several deputations and enquired about various problems being faced by the general public. He said government is fully aware about the difficulties confronting the people and efforts are on to mitigate the suffering of the people.
