JAMMU, Feb 24: Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu & Kashmir, Regional Director, Arvind Kumar has stated that this Social Security Scheme for employees of organised sector including factories and establishments has been a unique scheme catering to over one lakh covered employees and their family members totaling to over 5 lakh resident beneficiaries in the State.
In a seminar here today held in premises of LUPIN Pharmaceuticals at Bari Brahamna, Jammu to mark foundation day of ESI Corporation, the Regional Director stated that several measures have been taken under the ESI Scheme in the State to provide medical care to the beneficiaries, besides cash compensations under the ESI Scheme, which includes nine ESI Dispensaries, one ESI Hospital and tie-up with 17 reputed private hospitals including ASCOM, BEE ENN General Hospital, Center for Sight, JK Lasers, Sanjay Sachdeva, Kalindi Nurising Home, Sudan Heart Care Center, Triveni Nursing Home, Dr. Lal Path Lab Pvt. Ltd, Gupta Hospital, Trikuta CT Scan, and many other medical institutions associated with ESIC. Regional Director, ESIC, Jammu & Kashmir Region said that the organizations is administering ESI Scheme for 1.05 lakh covered employees in Jammu & Kashmir and is providing social security to them which includes medical services to the covered Insured Employees as well as their dependant family members and other benefits to 5.25 lakh beneficiaries.
Highlighting various salient and unique employee friendly features of the Scheme such as eligibility for treatment of self and dependent family members for 90 days immediately after registration of an employee and providing Temporary Identity Card to the him by the employer- which facility has been provided online to the employers, provisions of superspeciality treatments, grant of advance for treatments, reimbursement of cost of treatment to employer or employee in case of treatment in case of employee meeting with any accident, etc. He also stated that under the Scheme an employee and his dependant family members become eligible for treatment in ESI Dispensary and Hospital right from the day of jointing the insurable company, even pending payment of contribution on his behalf- thus this Scheme is a Social Security Scheme. He stated that few informatory advertisements are being periodically released in media to enable the insured employees and beneficiaries to avail of these facilities without hitches. He emphasized the need of immediate registration of each and every coverable employees using the Web Portal of ESIC to enable delivery of immediate services and benefits to insured employees in case of any eventuality. He also urged the employers to take proper and prompt care of providing medical treatment to any employee who meets with accident which is reimbursable under the provisions of the ESI Act to such employer.
Earlier Sunil Mehto, and Sindo Ram, (Both Deputy Directors), ESIC explained various provisions of Employees' State Insurance Act, 1948 relating to contributions and consequences in defaults on compliance with the provisions of the Act while R.K Raina, Sr Officer (HR) Lupin Ltd presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
