2/24/2014 11:02:09 PM
ET Report
Jammu, Feb 24 : Security agencies apprehend trouble in Jammu and Kashmir following reports indicating that some terrorists may try to sneak into the Indian state to escape military operations launched by Pakistani troops against the Taliban. Sources within government circles in Jammu said that we cannot rule out the possibility of a spillover of terrorists from Waziristan and Khyber areas where the Pak Army have launched a major operations against the Taliban after peace talks between the Nawaz Sharif led Government and leaders of Tehrik-e-Taliban (TeT) outfit failed to promote peace. Sources said that some of the terrorists may venture to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir to escape getting killed in the operations launched by the Pak Army.Reports said that Pakistani fighter jets attacked suspected militant hideouts in the tribal areas of the Afghan border the other day killing 38 terrorists. This was the third air strike in the recent days. Islamabad ordered these raids after peace negotiations with the Taliban terrorists broke down last week. Soon after the talks failed Nawaz Sharif authorized the Army to attack terrorists in the volatile region of the Afghan border.Government circles were of the opinion that Pak Army operations against the Taliban terrorists may hike violence in Afghanistan too and that may also have some impact on the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. These circles said that the Army, paramilitary forces and the state police have been told to remain on high alert to check any flare-up in the level of violence. Troops have been told to upgrade the border management which was needed to foil each and every infiltration bid by terrorists.
