| J&K's Medical Education improving with each passing day: Taj | | Council--2014 | | ET Report
JAMMU, Feb 24: Efforts are on to further improve medicare facilities in the hospitals across the state, adding that need is to create greater sense of dedication among the medical staff. This was stated by Minister for Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din while replying to a discussion over Health and Medical Education ministry. Minister was replying to the queries and points raised by the members while taking part in the discussion on working of Health and Medical Education Departments in the House today. Taj said that evening clinics have been opened to provide healthcare consultations by specialists to the patients who otherwise cannot avail consultations in the Hospitals during day time due to varied reasons, adding the purpose of the exercise was to check private practice of Government doctors. The Minister said that computerized system is being introduced in the Hospitals to maintain medical records of the patients. He said despite limitation of resources latest equipment and machines have been installed in the health institutions as per the demand to cater the needs of the patients. The Minister said that heath care in Maternity and Children Hospitals have also been improved, with the result the Health indicators have improved compared to States. He further informed that 915 doctors are in place against the sanctioned posts of 1995 in Medical education department. He said the same is the position of para medical staff where only 3000 posts are in position against the sanctioned strength of over 5000 posts, adding that 1000 nurses are in the process of selection. Sham Lal Sharma while replying on behalf of Health Minister informed the House that every effort was made during past five years to bring more efficiency in health care delivery system; adding about 9000 new posts have been created besides making appointment of 320 Dental Surgeons and 2000 ISM doctors. The Minister said that State has received awards for providing better and improved medicare facilities at primary and secondary level Health Institutions, adding that Finance Commission also awarded Rs. 20 crore in recognition of the performance. He said the liberal funding of Central Government enabled the State to create vast health infrastructure. He said District Hospital and AMT School coming up in the District Reasi would be expedited while funds for L.G.Pora health centre in Kulgam district would be made available as per requirement of the project. He said ambulance deficiency in Leh besides issue of Amchies would be addressed. The Minister said that CT-Scan machine will shortly be installed in District Hospital Poonch, adding that due care would be taken while setting up new health centres in the State. He said transfer policy is already in the department and expressed need for its effective implementation. Admitting the dearth of doctors in the hospitals, Sham Lal said that necessary steps have been taken to address this issue. He said DPRs for Sub District Hospital Sunderbani stands framed and Rs. 70 lakh have been earmarked for the project. Earlier, the member while taking part in the discussion expressed their views about the working of the Ministries and suggested measures for further improvement medicare facilities in the State. The Members, who took part in the discussion included Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Jahangir Hussain Mir, Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy, Syed Naeem Akhtar, Sham Lal Baghat, Syed Mohammad Rafiq Shah, Naresh Kumar Gupta, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Narboo Gialchan and Abdul Majeed Bhat. |
