| Man held for illegally carrying gold ornaments | | Fine of Rs 40,000 realized by Commercial Tax sleuths | | Lakhanpur | Apr 2 The sleuths of Commercial Tax held a person for illegally carrying gold jewellary worth 40 thousand rupees into the state from Amritsar, Punjab at Lakhanpur this afternoon. A fine of Rs 40,000 was also realized from the offender. According to reports, Dy Commissioner Commercial Tax R K Verma booked specific information of gold smuggling in the state. On the receipt of information, he directed commercial tax sleuths to apprehend the offender. During the vehicle check, the party held a person namely Vimal Kumar of Jaipur and recovered gold jewellary worth rupee 40 thousands from his possession. Meanwhile, a fine of rupee 20 thousand rupee was realized from the offender for illegally carrying gold in the state.
