| BCCI to include performance-based bonus in new contract: Shah | | |
RAJKOT, APR 2 Cricket Board is planning to introduce performance-based incentives to cricketers in the new Players' Contract which will be offered to them in the coming days, a top Board official said today. "The BCCI will finalise and offer new contracts to the players before the Bangladesh tour. As per the new contract, players will be given bonus based on their individual performance," BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah told media persons here. Saying it was his personal opinion, Shah declared that Rahul Dravid should continue as India's captain but added that the decision was left to the selection committee. "Dravid should be given a chance to continue as the captain of the Indian team, but a final decision (on the matter) will be taken only by the selection committee," he said. "I am going to take part in BCCI meetings to be held on April 6 and 7," Shah said and added that the decision whether to continue with coach Greg Chappell will be taken at the meeting of the Working Committee of the board on April 7. The BCCI Secretary, however, refused to reply to a query whether Sourav Ganguly would replace Dravid as captain. He also clarified that neither World Cup team manager Sanjay Jagdale, also a member of the five-man selection panel, nor Chappell had sent their tour reports about India's performance in the World Cup to the board. "The reports will be tabled only in the BCCI meeting on April 6 and 7," he added.
