| Rs. 4.70 crore Rope Way project for Sultan-ul-Arifeen shrine | | Pious pilgrim places demand palatable premises: Azad | |
SRINAGAR, APRIL 03 Emphasizing the need for proper maintenance and upkeep of shrines and other places of worship, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has asked Wakf Board to follow a transparent and fool proof police in this regard. Addressing a review meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Wakf Board here today, Chief Minister said that beautification and renovation of religious places is imperative for facilitating devotees and pilgrims. He said that involvement of Tourism department is essential in making historical religious places captivating for visitors and encouraging pilgrim tourism. Present in the meeting were Minister for Hajj and Auqaf, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Mr. Basharat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipora Dr, Sidiqui Wahid, Additional Advocate General Mr. Ali Mohammad Magray, Director Information Khawaja Farooq Renzu, Special Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Zaffar Ahmed, Director Tourism besides members of Wakf Board. The meeting while reviewing functioning of the Wakf Board, was informed that renovation of 600 years old Aali Masjid project taken up by Tourism Department at a cost of Rs. 1.10 crore is under execution. It was given out that for rehabilitation of displaced families affected due to expansion and beautification of Hazartbal Shrine as many as 34 plots would be allotted to the affectees at Bota Bagh under phase first while 47 plots would be arranged by the Board for such families in phase second. The meeting was told that Rs. 4.70 crore Rope Way project would be taken up by the Tourism Department for Sultan-ul-Arifeen Shrine for the convenience of devotees as well as the visitors. The meeting also took various decisions which include purchase of two buses for Sultan-ul-Arifeen Wakf Public School, transfer of 10 kanals of land by Islamic University to Mantaqui Higher Secondary School Awantipora for construction of school building, setting up of Budget Sub-Committee, Estimates Sub-Committee and Legal Sub-Committee to look into rules of the Board and come up with recommendations wherever any change or modification is required. The committees will submit their report within one month. The Chief Minister directed Gulmarg Development Authority to remove shops in dilapidated condition owned by the Board at Gulmarg and relocate these at suitable places to rehabilitate the tenants. The meeting also dwelt in detail on the renovation works under execution at Khankah Faiz Panah, Tral and Chrar-i-Sharief Shrine.
