| Postal Dept to soon start CBS, ATM facilities in J&K: CPMG | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 6: The Department of Posts (DoP) has decided to start Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) facility in Jammu and Kashmir, where a new philatelic bureau was opened today. Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) Chandra Prakash, after inaugurating new Philatelic Bureau at Srinagar General Post Office (GPO) here said the DoP is likely to introduce Core Banking Solutions and ATM facilities in bigger Post Offices in the state. It will be introduced in Head Post Offices very soon, he announced. CPMG also said state Postal Circle was modernising and computerising all the Post Offices in the state so that the public gets best and fastest services. He said the DoP had launched new services "Express Parcel" and "Business Parcel", at Srinagar GPO, Jammu Tawi Head Office and Jammu RMS to meet the needs of the customers and public. 'Express parcels' are sent by air, he said adding that the Business Parcel service is for bulk customers. Cash on Delivery service has also been introduced in both the services. Prakash said the GPO is the iconic Post Office in the entire state, serving the public for decades and as being Srinagar an international tourist destination, every facility in Srinagar General Post Office would be provided which will turn useful for local public and also for tourists. Now latest philatelic stamps will also be easily available here, he said. CPMG said there was only one Philatelic Bureau at Gandhi Nagar HO (Jammu) catering the whole state Circle and two more Philatelic Bureau in the state one each at Srinagar GPO and at Leh Head Post Office have been established. |
