| Rana, Zafarullah pay for Mendhar call: security reduced | | Aijaz Qazmi | |

Taking note of serious charge of fomenting communal trouble in the border town of Mendhar, the state authorities today decided to scale down the security provided to National Conference MLA Javed Rana and Congress District president of Poonch Zafarullah.
According to highly placed sources, the government stripped four personal security officer from Rana’s security, which earlier comprised of eight PSOs. Similarly, 2 PSOs have also been recalled from Zaffarullah’s security, who earlier had four men attached with him.
A security vehicle which had been provided to the Congress district chief has also been withdrawn sources said.
Here it must be mentioned that this action has been taken as the duo had reportedly tried to foment trouble in Mendhar town few days back over the construction of a mosque on a dispute site. Rana, reportedly had defied curfew in Mendhar and threatened the minority community members if they dared to come in their way.
Meanwhile, talking to Early Times correspondent, Congress president of Poonch, Zafarullah said that he became aware of this move of the administration only when he reached Poonch.
Asserting that he was in no way involved in fomenting trouble in Mendhar, the Congress leader said that his father was a known personality and had sacrificed his life for the amity and fraternity of the area. “ I too believe in secularism and have done nothing to create trouble”, adding that he was the first worker in Poonch to get security”.
