| Retrenchment of JP workers highly deplorable: FUIW | | | Jammu April 03 Accusing JP Industries for its anti-worker policy, the Federation of Unions of Industrial Workers, (FUIW), in an emergent meeting presided over by Com. H D Bhowmik, President Estates Workers Union, has impressed upon the Government to provide alternate job to the retrenched employees of Dul Hasti Hydro Power Project in some other projects, in accordance with the assurance given by the Chief Minister in August last. ‘Describing retrenchment of more than 1000 workers of DHPP as highly deplorable’, the FUIW said that the Federation has already started people awakening program by conducting man to man contact and organizing gate meetings at work places. In a resolution adopted at the meeting the FUIW resolved to intensify its program of mass awakening with developing political consciousness to defend socio-economic democratic rights through struggle in future and work for developing cooperation for democratization of economic system in the State, a Federation handout said. Addressing the meeting, Com Uppal has urged the workers to maintain unity at all levels to combat the anti working class policies of the government. Those who attended the meeting included Prem Chand, President ISMACO Workers Union, Micky Triveni of Color Workers Union Gangyal, Ramesh, President Industrial Workers Union Birpur, Pramod Sharma, Secretary Industrial Estate Workers Union and Raj Kumar of Industrial Ekta Workers Union Kathua.
