| Troops’ withdrawal from J&K a suicidal move, Mir | | | Jammu Apr 3 The State Unit of the National Loktantrik Party has sought intervention of the President of India, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Army, on the issue of troops’ withdrawal from Jammu and Kashmir as demanded by Peoples Democratic Party. The party accused PDP for misguiding and blackmailing the Centre on this issue. Addressing media persons here today, the State President Suhail Ahmed Mir alleged that Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was playing dwell role to confuse the people as well as the Central Government on troops’ withdrawal. He maintained that withdrawal of troops at this time would be suicidal and would prove counter productive. Mir has appealed the President of India to take a decision in the matter of troops’ withdrawal from Jammu and Kashmir, as demanded by PDP keeping, in view the protection of life and property of the innocent citizens. The confusion created by the demand needs to be put to rest for national interest, he added. Accusing State Government of its failure in curbing the menace of corruption, Mir stressed the need for strengthening the Accountability Commission and also demanded fair deal with a the local IAS and IPS officers who are fully acquainted with the problems of the people of the State.
