| Manager's report will be paramount : BCCI official | | |
NEW DELHI, APR 3 Amid reports of a growing rift between senior players of the team and coach Greg Chappell following the World Cup fiasco, a senior Cricket Board official today said the manager's report would be treated as "authoritative" and serve as the basis for remedial measures.
The official said manager Sanjay Jagdale was the BCCI representative in the World Cup squad and his report would give an "impartial" analysis on the debacle.
"As far as the BCCI is concerned, Jagdale's report will be authoritative. He was the BCCI representative and his report will be paramount", BCCI official Raj Singh Dungarpur told PTI.
"There have been a lot of media reports coming out after the World Cup. Jagdale is a man of integrity and his report will give us a fair idea of what went wrong", Dungarpur, a former BCCI president, said.
Both Jagdale and chappell would submit their World Cup reports to the BCCI on April 6 which would be discussed by a number of former Indian captains. The BCCI's Working Committee will meet the following day to discuss the team's performance and decide on the future course of action.
Meanwhile, when contacted in Indore, Jagdale said he had not yet started working on the report.
"I have not started writing the report. I will submit it to the BCCI President Sharad Pawar on April 6. Since it is a confidential report, I will hand it over to him personally", Jagdale told PTI.
Jagdale, who is also a national selector, declined to comment on reports of a rift between senior players and Chappell, saying " I don't know whether Chappell has said anything."
