RAJOURI, Mar 14 : As a part of election campaign for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, President All India Jat Mahasabha J&K, Choudhary Manmohan Singh is on a 5 day tour of Rajouri and Poonch. Choudhary along with other senior leaders and sarpanches of jat community of Nowshera and Mendhar region, met with Ghulam Nabi Azad, who also visited the area to campaign. There, the jat community told him about the injustice meted out to them by giving OBC status and reservations to jats of all states except jats of J&K, who are in desperate need of such benefit. Jats of J&K live in petty dire conditions and they do need the support of such reservation. They told Azad that the jat community is on united base now, and will be supporting Congress in coming Lok Sabha elections, expecting Congress to be responsive to their community issues and granting them OBC category. Ghulam Nabi Azad assured Choudhary Manmohan Singh and his deputation, that at soon as Code of Conduct ends, he will personally see that jats be given the category and reservations. |
