| CJM issues fresh arrest warrants against 2 Cops | | Wamiq Farooq case | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 14: Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar today issued fresh non-bailble arrest warrants against ASI Abdul Khaliq and SPO Mohammad Akram for their production before in connection with the killing of a boy Wamiq Farooq in old city here in 2010. The CJM V S Bahu issued the warrants to be executed by Inspector General of Kashmir for procuring their attendance on April 4. The warrants were issued the CJM after perusal of a report by SSP Srinagar that the NBWs could not be executed as ASI Sofi, is on leave while SPO Mohammad Akram is undergoing training at Talwara STC in Jammu and warrants were forwarded to the unit for execution. However, the court observed that the report filed by SSP Srinagar is not satisfactory and directed issuance of fresh warrants to be executed by the IGP Kashmir. Pertinently, Wamiq Farooq, a class 7th student, was hit by a tear smoke shell at Gani Memorial Stadium in old city in 2010. He died on the spot. The arrest warrants were actually issued in August 2013. However, before they could be executed, the accused filed a revision petition before the Sessions court which stayed it. The revision petition was dismissed on February 26 by the sessions, vacating the stay and directing execution of the warrants by March 3. |
