JAMMU, Mar 15: A Sport Climbing coaching camp, organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K, commenced at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here today. Around 20 young and promising climbers, identified during talent search competitions, taking part in this special coaching camp in both Lead and Speed. The coaching was being imparted by reputed professional coaches at the 40 ft high fibre glass climbing wall at the school premises. "These 20 promising boys and girls are the medal prospects in the upcoming zonal and national competitions, so we are focusing on them," general secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria told SAN. Through this 18-day specialized coaching camp, the Association shall adequately prepare the climbers for the forthcoming Junior Masters National Sport Climbing Competition so that they can give creditable performance in the prestigious competition in which almost all the national medalists of the last two years in Sub Junior and Junior categories are likely to compete for honours. "Being host of the prestigious Junior Masters National Sport Climbing Competition, the Association makes all out efforts to win maximum number of medals," he informed. The special camp, sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council, would certainly help the Association regain the North Zone Sport Climbing Champions Trophy which it lost in 2010 after remaining the zonal champion continuously for five years from 2005 to 2009. |
