SRINAGAR, Mar 15: Judge, Supreme Court of India (Chairman, Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee of Supreme Court), Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar inaugurated the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre, constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.23 crore under 13th Finance Commission in the newly under construction District Court complex, Mominabad Srinagar today. He inaugurated in presence of Chief Justice of J&K High Court (Patron in Chief Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee J&K), Justice M.M. Kumar, Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Virender Singh, Chairman Mediation Monitoring Committee, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Member, Mediation Monitoring Committee, Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar and Member Mediation Monitoring Committee, Justice Tashi Rabstan Justice S.S Nijjar while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of settling disputes through ADR system particularly through mediation and Lok Adalats. He said that settlement of disputes and conflicts through ADR system creates a win win situation and no one is loser in the process. Justice Nijjar said that our job is to find solution not winner or loser and good offices of Judges can do it. Lauding the role of Lok Adalat system, Justice Nijjar said that thousands of cases are solved within a day or two through this system and Supreme Court recently did three lakh cases in one day, saying that this tool can be used to bring peace and harmony in the society. |
