BHADERWAH, Mar 15: Two poor families of Halya village of Bhaderwah have been forced to spend chilled nights in the open sky only from the last three days due to the negligence of the GREF 114 RCC authorities. As per reports GREF is doing the widening work on the Bhaderwah Bani Basohli road and six months back GREF authorities widened the Halya belt of the road and instead of repeated requests GREF failed to construct the breast wall in front of the houses which due to heavy snow fall damaged along with apple orchard. Affected are identified as Mohammad Hussain labourer by profession son of Gulam Rasool Wani and Misra Begum while tears in their eyes said their houses and another dozens of apple trees and land were damaged in landslides triggered by continuous rains and snow fall and added that landslides also partially damaged orchards in front of their houses. They informed still not a single officer or political leader has visited to them to assess the damage and not a single affected household has been evacuated and shifted to safer places. Jabeena Begum wife of affected Gulam Rasool Wani said while crying, many times they visited the officers of GREF 114 RCC for the construction of wall in front of their house but GREF not listened their plea and now they are at the mercy of God and are spending sleepless nights in chilled cold weather. They urged upon the administration and NGOs to immediately provide them relief and shift to some other safer place so that they can save their lives along with minor children's .They also said that now they have started begging before the villagers of Halyia area and demanded strict action against GREF 114 RCC for damage to their house which they constructed some years back. Repeated attempts were made by this media person to contact GREF OC but not replied the ring. It is notable to mention here that GREF at Bhaderwah is involved in unnecessary damages to people property at Bhaderwah and this incidence is a tip of the ice berg and civil society members and administration should wake up and provide relief to the effected families of Bhaderwah whose eyes with tears are waiting for help. |
