JPPF celebrates Raising Day of J&K State

Jammu, Mar 15: JPPF (Jammu Province Peoples Forum) an amalgam of more than 50 social, commercial and other organizations, a united voice of Jammu Province celebrated 169th Raising Day of Jammu and Kashmir State today.
President Th Pavitar Singh Retd. Session Judge said though the State of Jammu and Kashmir came into existence on 16th march, 1846 when Amritsar Treaty was executed between Maharaja Gulab Singh and Sir Henry Harding Governor General on the part of British Govt.
It was mentioned in Article No.l that the British Government transfers and makes over for ever in independent possession to Maharajah Gulab Singh and the heirs of his body all the hilly or mountainous country with its dependencies situated to the eastward of the River Indus and the westward of the River Ravi including Chamba and excluding Lahul, being part of the territories ceded to the British Government by the Lahore State according to the provisions of Article IV of the Treaty of Lahore, dated 9th March, 1846.
JPPF decided to celebrate the historical event with full enthusiasm every year to make public aware of the historical part of existence of Jammu and Kashmir. JPPF also appealed to every citizen as well as organizations to come forward to celebrate 16th March every year as J&K State's Raising Day with full joy.
Many personalities of Jammu witnessed the programme prominent of them were Inderjeet Khajuria (Sr. Vice President JPPF), Gajan Singh Khajuria (Vice President JPPF), Kr Narayan Singh ( President Rajput Sabha), M.S.Katoch( Secretary GeneralJPPF), Avinash Bhatia (Organiser JPPF), ML Sharma(Finance Secretary), Amrit Mangotra(Office Secretary JPPF), P.R Salathia (Adl Office Secretary JPPF), Rajiv Mahajan (Press Secretary JPPF), Sunita Sharma (President RWF), Kamla Sharma (President Home Guard), Henna Jamwal, S. Balwinder Singh, Prof. B.L.Bhardwaj, Prof. Devender Sharma, K.K.Proach (Retd Judge), S.Gajan Singh.
