Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 15: Raising question mark on the safety of school children, 65 prominent private educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir have been found violating the norms on safety standards of the vehicles in Jammu and Kashmir during an inspection conducted by the Transport department.
Officials sources in Regional Transport Office (RTO) Jammu said that the office has constituted a committee comprising of ARTO, Board of Inspection Jammu, Deputy SP Traffic and two motor vehicle inspectors to inspect school buses owned/hired by the different educational institution to check the deficiencies.
As per report of said committee nearly all the school buses were deficient in one or the other respect as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court issued for the safety of students. "The schools were given notices to make up the deficiencies within a time frame following some tragic incident, report said. School authorities managed only yellow colour for vehicles, but other safety features have not been implemented, report added.
