Kathua, Mar 15: Police today detained a notorious interstate bovine smuggler under Public Safety Act (PSA), police said. Police said that accused has been charge sheeted 5 times, convicted thrice and is under trial in 2 cases while investigation of one case registered against him is going on.
The accused has been identified namely as Saif Ali alias Chunj s/o Noor Ahmed r/o Maggar Khad Tehsil & District Kathua.
According to police case, the District Magistrate, Kathua issued detention warrant against the above named bovine smuggler on 14/03/2014 which was executed on very same day and the detenue has been lodged in Central Jail Jammu. The subject is habitual offender and indulged in illegal transportation to bovine animals / criminal activities since the year 2007 and thereafter he continuously involved in this menace. Police said, "Although he has been charge sheeted 5 times, convicted thrice, under trial in 2 cases and the investigation of 1 case is going on, but he never mended himself.
