| World Consumers Rights Protection Day, Holi Milan celebrated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 16: Members of Consumers Welfare Association (CWA), Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens (AWSC) and Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) today celebrated World Consumers Rights Day and Holi Milan. As per press release, a 'Kavi Samelan' was also organized in which renowned poets Sunita Bhadual, Neeru Sharma, Randhir Singh Raipuria, Kewal Kumar Kewal and Dr. Bharat Bhushan Sharma participated. They recited their poems based on the themes of Holi and protection of consumer rights. Vikram Gour, President CWA stressed on the need of creating awareness among the members of entire consumer fraternity about the consumer laws so that they are able to face the onslaught of unscrupulous traders, manufacturers and service providers including the government agencies to assert and protect their rights provided to them under the Consumer Protection Act. They said the consumers should organize themselves into consumer protection groups and societies to fight for their cause as even the government of the day have not shown their keenness to protect the rights of the consumers' interests. The function among others was attended by Dr. Salim Khan Health Officer JMC, SC Sharma president AWSC, BM Kohli Gen Secy CWA, Rajinder Kakkar Secy CWA, Ashok Arora and large number of residents of Trikuta Nagar, members of AWSC and CWA. Chandar Gulati high lighting the importance of consumers educating themselves about their rights said it is essential that the consumers unite and take on the unscrupulous traders and service providers including government agencies like water and electricity supply, health services and municipal corporation etc. |
