| SI caught red handed accepting bribe | | | Jammu April 04 State Vigilance Organization today caught red handed Sub-Inspector of Police, Naseer Ahmad, 447/NGO Officer Incharge, Police Station Pattan, while accepting Rs 6000 as bribe from father of an accused involved in burglary case. A Vigilance spokesman said that one Ghulam Qadir Khan S/o Dilawar Khan R/o Burn Ganjipora, Pattan, lodged a written report with P/S VOK stating that a case FIR No.26/2007 P/S Pattan U/S 457, 380-RPC was under investigation in Police Station Pattan, against his son namely Hilal Ahmad, regarding theft of computers from AL-HUDA College of Education Pattan, following recovery of the stolen property by Police Station Maharajgunj Srinagar. The accused Sub-Inspector demanded Rs.50,000 as illegal gratification from the complainant for taking a lenient view against his son ,of which Rs.44,000 had already been paid by him a few days back. The accused Officer Incharge of P/S Pattan insisted upon the complainant to pay the balance of Rs.6000 immediately. The Spokesman said upon this complaint a case FIR No. 23/2007 was registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization, Kashmir and investigation taken up. In the course of investigation the officials of State Vigilance Organization laid a successful trap and caught accused Naseer Ahmed SI while accepting bribe of Rs.6000 from the complainant in presence of independent witnesses. The tainted money was recovered from his possession and his hand wash tested positive. The accused was taken into custody for further investigation, the spokesman added.
