JKP disallows SIT Punjab to search house of narcotic smuggler
SIT expected to come back with search warrant

A six member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police, on job of investigation and search the house of an alleged narcotic smuggler arrested by it in Amritsar, returned empty handed as Jammu Police did not allow it to search the Nanak Nagar residence of the ‘smuggler’. The pace of investigation into this important case has received a jolt with this alleged non-cooperative attitude of Jammu Police. Meanwhile, the SIT is expected to come back soon with search warrant. It is to mention that the Jammu resident alleged to be narcotic smuggler was arrested some days back by Punjab Police at Amritsar and 18 kilograms of heroine was seized from his possession
According to sources, yesterday morning a SIT team from Amritsar arrived here to carry out raid in the house of the smuggler but, their Jammu counterparts didn’t allow the team to search the residence as the SIT was not carrying the proper search warrant. The SIT was headed by a DySP of Punjab Police.
Meanwhile, SSP Narcotics Amritsar Makhan Singh told ‘Early Times’ that said narcotic smuggler, Balwinder Singh who was arrested along with one more person at Amritsar near Sangam Cinema on Mar31 revealed during the remand that he was involved in narcotics trade from the past few years and was living in a house at Amritsar. He was a Medical Attendant in a Jammu Hospital and had taken house on rent at several places including Satwari, Poonch, Delhi, Punjab and many more. He was operating the trade from these rental accommodations.
Sources from Punjab Police said that he was also involved in the vehicle lifting and actively supported by his brother. Punjab Police has gathered much more information from the interrogation of the said smuggler and an international gang is expected to be busted after the complete investigation. The market value of the seized heroine stood at Rs 18 crore in International market, sources added.
It is to mention that Delhi Police had arrested a Punjab based lady with large quantity of Heroine some days back and she is considered to be connected with this racket. Meanwhile, the interrogation of the smuggler was on and SIT team will return back a proper search warrant to give befitting reply to Jammu Police.
