| Employee unions call on Finance Minister | | Karra shows sympathy with demands | |
Jammu, April 05 A deputation of representatives of different employees unions comprising of Joint Employees Action Committee headed by Mr. Anwar Beigh, Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted employees union led by Mr. Nazir Ahmad Mir and Lower Grade employees union headed by Mr. Bashir Ahmad Sholla today called on Minister for Finance Mr. Tariq Hamid Karra and presented a charter of demands for early redressal. The demands included early release of 6% D.A installment, enhancement of retirement ages from 58 years to 60 years, disbursement of salary before 5th of every month, enhancement of festival advance from Rs. 500 to 5000, revival of medical claim policy besides other related problems. The Minister gave them patient hearing and assured that their genuine demands would be looked into. He told them that the government has already kept a provision in the Budget for the disbursement of different installments of DA and next installment of 6% DA would be announced very soon. Regarding enhancement of retirement age, the Minister said that it is a policy matter which needs the consensus of the entire cabinet. The deputation thanked the Minister for his employee-friendly temperament and hoped that he would play his important role in mitigating genuine difficulties of employees.
