| Jora, Hussain discuss state’s power requirement with PTC | | | Jammu, April 05 To bridge the gap between demand and availability of electricity during the winter season in the state matters were discussed to this regard with a delegation of Power Trading Corporation of India limited (PTC) which called on Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora here today. Minister of State for Power Peer Mohammad Hussain was also present in the meeting. The delegation discussed various options to bridge the winter gap between demand and supply of power in the state to same extent through banking, sale and purchase methodology on the pattern as they have with Government of Himachal Pradesh. The delegation also discussed utilization of Hydro-Power Potential and its distribution system in the state. The Minister apprised the delegation about the power scenario in the state and measures taken by the government to harness the hydropower potential in various parts of the state. He said that some power projects are under execution and some are in the pipeline. It was informed that the main functioning of the PTC is to work as an intermediary between the developers of Mega Power Projects and the off-taking states. As the pioneers in the business, PTC takes the position of a responsible leader to develop the market for the benefit of all. It develops a market for short-term surpluses in power and promotes long-term capacity for participation. Among other, Principal Secretary Power Mr. Madhav Lal, Development Commissioner Power Mr. Showkat Rashid Wani, Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu Mr. D.S. Pawar, Chief Engineers System Operation Kashmir and Jammu division Mr. R.K. Shelli and Mr. R. A. Guru were also present during the presentation.
