| Eight new MLCs administered oath | | |
Jammu, April 5
Eight newly elected Members of Upper House took oath of office at a simple but impressive function organized in Legislative Council here today.
Acting Chairman Legislative Council Mr. P. Namgyal administered oath to Mr. Ali Mohammad, Mr. Mohammad Amin Bhat,Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Taing, Mr. Rajinder Singh Chib, Mr. Devinder Singh Rana, Mr. Murtaza Ahmad Khan and Mr. Mohammad Sharief Bhat.
Mr. Ali Mohammad, Mr. Mohammad Amin Bhat, Mr. Rajinder Singh Chib and Mr. Mohammad Sharief Bhat are from Congress, Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana and Mr. Murtaza Ahmad Khan represent PDP whileas Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Taing and Mr. Devinder Singh Rana belong to National Conference.
It may be mentioned that 8 seats of Upper House fell vacant on March 17, 2007and seats were filled by declaring above 8 candidates elected unopposed.
Secretary Legislative Council Mr. G. R. Mehboobi was present on the occasion besides a large gathering.
