Police presents challan against four accused
4/6/2007 12:07:49 AM

Nowshera April 5
Police presented a challan in the Court of Sub Judge Nowshera against four accused involved in clandestine smuggling of steam coal;
The police had seized two trucks bearing registration NO JK 02AD 7831 and JK 02X 8331 carrying steam coal on Mach 8 last at Ghari Nowshera and registered a case under FIR No 291/ u/s RPC 407 and 109. During the course of investigation, it was found that steam coal lifted from the Brari brick killan was being transported to Rajouri clandestinely. Instead of going to Rajouri the trucks diverted towards Jahanagr and stopped near Ghari, adjacent to Military station.
Founding some things fishy, the police seized both the trucks along with 18 tons of steam coal and arrested four persons namely Darshan Lal, Ashok Kumar, Doulat Ram and Ashwani Kumar. Further investigation in the case is in progress and the exact location for transportation of the steam coal could only be ascertained when the investigation is completed. However, the involvement of Army, as was suspected earlier, has been totally ruled out.
