| Improve quality of drinking water Dilawar to PHE Deptt | | | Jammu, April 05 Government proposes to introduce modern scientific process for cleaning of water reservoirs and storage tanks in the state to improve quality of potable drinking water supplied people. For the purpose, it is service of a company is being sought which utilizes German High Pressure Cleaning Machines. The demonstration of this innovative technique by the technicians of the “Tankclean” to the senior engineers of the Public Health Engineering Department was made today at Jammu in presence of the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir. The use of anti-bacterial sterilizing agents during the process makes drinking water 100% bacteria free for consumption. The technicians of the company informed the innovative tank cleaning service by the “Tank clean” company is already in use in different states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Goa, New Delhi, West Bengal, Uttaranchal and Andra Pradesh and have serviced tanks of more than 40,000 private, commercial, government and semi-government buildings. Water Tanks of different capacities ranging from 1000 liters to 20 lakh liters can be cleaned up by this technique in a very short duration, they informed. Speaking on the occasion, Minister urged the need for providing clean drinking water to the people adding that the proper cleaning process helps to eradicate water borne diseases to a greater extent. He asked the engineers to get practical demonstration conducted for cleaning drinking water reservoirs, underground and overhead tanks in the state after ensuring its proper utility and viability. He also advised the engineers to keep provisions for cleaning and up keeping of various water reservoirs while formulating new water supply schemes. Chief Engineer, PHE Jammu Mr. Vinod Goswami, Superintending Engineers and other senior officers and media persons were also present on the occasion.
