Qazi chairs forest officers meeting
Arrangements set in place to meet timber requirements

To meet the demand of timber State Forest Corporation (SFC) has fixed timber extraction target of 75 lac cfts. and transportation of 42 lac cfts to its depots. The sale target has been fixed at 35 lac cfts which is almost double than the targets of previous years.
This was stated by the Minister for Forests, Housing and Urban Development Qazi Mohammad Afzal today at a review meeting of Forest Department and SFC here today.
The meeting was informed that the SFC has taken over 40 lac cft’s of timber during the year 2006-07.
Addressing the meeting, Qazi Afzal urged the concerned authorities to protect available forest resources of the state and asked them to leave no stone unturned in the preservation and conservation of these resources for the coming generation. He asked them to work with utmost zeal and dedication to facilitate consumers of the state and make SFC more profitable unit. He asked the SFC authorities to make it possible that no consumer of the state is subject to suffer for want of timber for construction or other genuine purposes.
Qazi Afzal also asked them to fix their target as per the growing needs and demands of all the zones of the state and also to have additional stocks of timber to meet demand during any exigency.
Among others Commissioner/Secretary Forests Mr. Atul Dulloo, Managing Director SFC Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu Mr. Abhay Kumar, Conservator Forests Mr. Manoj Panth and other senior officers also attended the meeting.
